Kate Ewing from the Islington Community Rehabilitation Team won the NHS Islington Health Star award for Outstanding contribution to patient experience – community health services award.

Kate Ewing I see as an outstanding individual. This year she has secured funding from the North Central Cardiac and Stroke Network to complete a review of stroke services in Islington and this was used to highlight the gaps and establish funding for the Stroke Co-ordinator and the Stroke Navigator Post.

By securing this funding Kate has helped to create two new posts In Islington, approximately 2000 people a year will have a stroke with Kate’s hard work we can now see clear pathways for patients accessing Health Checks in community pharmacies in Islington to help prevent the risk of a stroke.

Becky Wright has worked as her workplace coach for the past 6 months and seen a significant change in her leadership skills and ability to make a difference.
