When?

The coaching will be starting in November 2011 and ending in March 2012.

Eligibility?

The Project has recruited 10 visual artists who are sole traders / small businesses. An application process ensured that all participants were committed to sustainable business development. Priority was given to applicants who have not benefitted from training and business development initiatives previously offered for the creative sector in Somerset. These participants are visual artists sole traders but we did not exclude applications from sole traders working in the creative sector.

Goals of the coaching

  • Greater confidence in creative industries managers by increasing personal development and skills.
  • Increased levels of sustainability by developing a stronger business model.
  • Awareness of greater ‘business’ potential by using social media
  • Development of a Creative Nexus group that will provide enduring peer support after the project finishes
  • Strengthened business networks, collaboration andpartnership development through participation in a shared learning/business development programme.
  • The coaching will help participants develop a competitive advantage by helping to create the conditions for growth in the creative sector.

Project Evaluation

The Project will be evaluated by the project partners and participants and a project report compiled. In order to assess impact the Evaluation will include a questionnaire circulated 6 months after participants complete their coaching. An economic baseline will be established at the start of the coaching process and re-evaluated at the end of the process. The final part of the coaching process will involve a day of Action Learning where the project will also be finally evaluated. This group will be the formation of the creative nexus group.
