Juliet has worked for many years in the counselling and psychology field both in this country and America. She provides counselling for New Leaf in West Somerset. She describes her work as a rewarding experience. Her initial training occurred in a counselling centre which specialised in helping those who had undergone various forms of abuse. The time there laid the foundations of her understanding of how human beings can begin to recover from trauma and gave me a deep respect for human courage. Over the years she has worked in quite different contexts from university counselling centres to low cost community counselling.
She feels her role as a counsellor is a privilege and a responsibility. She said,
“ It is a privilege in that I get to witness people who are courageous enough to want to do things differently and change. It is a responsibility as I commit myself to staying informed within the profession and accountable to others for maintaining high ethical standards.”
Juliet herself has been described as a “gifted counsellor”. Empathic, insightful and understanding, she has played an important part in the lives of many individuals on their way to recovery. Juliet works from Minehead and Taunton seeing New Leaf clients.
Her qualifications are:
- MA Counselling Psychology, BSc Psychology (including Marriage and Family)
- MBACP Accredited
- UKRCP Registered Independent Counsellor
- Licensed Psychological Practitioner
- Adheres to the ethical guidelines of the BACP
