Sarah is a person-centred counsellor who works with vulnerable adults and clients within New Leaf. She offers face-to-face talking therapy but also, depending on the client’s needs, incorporates artistic therapy into the sessions if this is appropriate. Her keen interest in the therapeutic benefits of the creative process which has revealed to her that it often creates a more informal, relaxed environment. It can enable the client to express themselves, possibly more freely that they would in a talking therapy session, which some might find daunting.
Starting her artistic career as a designer, Sarah worked for many prestigious high street clients. Since 2008 she has undertaken a number of different roles bringing together her interests in being artistically creative and helping people. She has spent the last seven years working in the social care sector in various roles such as teaching art and supporting adults with Aspergers, learning disabilities and mental health problems. Sarah has had voluntary roles at Age UK and Cruise Bereavement Care. More recently, in another voluntary role, Sarah set up and delivered a free counselling service for vulnerable 16-24 year olds in Yeovil.
Sarah say,” Counselling can be confidence building and bring relief from stress, anxiety and depression, as well as improving well-being and increasing self awareness. Counselling can help create the ability to develop better coping strategies for anger, loss, bereavement and relationship difficulties.”

Sarah is a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy reg number 077821 ) and works within their ethical framework. She believes that the relationship between the counsellor and client is at the heart of the counselling process. Sarah offers her clients a calm, warm and welcoming environment in which they will be supported to explore their thoughts and feelings.
